Columbia Care medical marijuana dispensary in Manhattan, NYThis past Thursday marked a historic day for New York City – the launch of the state’s medical marijuana program. The first licensed medical marijuana dispensaries also opened their doors to licensed patients this past Thursday as part of the state’s launch program.

Columbia Care – located on East 14th Street in Manhattan – looks like a spa according to a recent WSJ article. The article goes on to state,

artsy photos of enlarged cannabis leaves adorn softly lit white walls. After passing through tight security, patients will wait for service amid scattered plants and iPads at the city’s first medical marijuana dispensary.

Columbia Care also features multiple layers of security, and patients are assigned their own pharmacist who is specially trained to dispense oils, capsules and tinctures made from marijuana extract.

Medical marijuana supplies at Columbia Care are also kept in an underground vault to keep them safely out of sight.

There are a total of 20 licensed dispensaries planned for NY, and 8 of them opened their doors on January 7th. In addition to Manhattan’s Columbia Care, the other 7 dispensaries are located in:

  • White Plains
  • Syracuse
  • Williamsville
  • Albany
  • Kingston
  • Amherst
  • Liverpool

It’s great to see another state allowing patients access to the healing powers that medical cannabis has to offer.

We want all patients to have access to only the best quality medicine, and it’s great to see Across International vacuum ovens and rotary evaporators being utilized more and more throughout the extracts industry to produce top quality, clean medicine for mmj patients. 🙂
